Birchbox Glamour Magazine July 2012 unboxing

  • Color Club nail polish in Blue-Ming – looks like Essie Turquoise & Caicos in the bottle but they are different enough on that I’m glad I have both. The Color Club is a little brighter and a little more in your face whereas the Essie is a little more demure.
  • Eyeko Skinny Liquid Eyeliner in Black (not waterproof)
  • Harvey Prince fragrance in Eau Flirt (you know the drill by now, synthetic fragrance is not my thing)
  • Supergoop! City Sunscreen Serum – this is ok. There are better but this is acceptable: http://www.ewg.org/skindeep/company/Supergoop%21/
    Here’s the 2012 Sunscreen Guide: http://breakingnews.ewg.org/2012sunscreen/
  • Tea Forté Minteas Reboot in Cocoa Mate – these are organic and have yerba mate as an ingredient. I thought I had these in some other flavors but it turned out that what I had were actually SenCha mints in different flavors. These taste VERY similar.
  • Neon Earbuds – cute but lacking in bass… tried them after the video and they’re a little too tin-y. I’ve actually bought $10 earbuds before that sound better than these. I was kinda excited to get these but they ended up in the trash they were bad enough.

Clothia.com review

Clothia Beta

They say:
“MIX AND MATCH CLOTHES TO CREATE, SAVE AND SHARE FASHIONABLE LOOKS WITH ITEMS YOU ALREADY OWN OR THOSE THAT YOU COVET.”

This site is very similar in ways to polyvore and shopstyle in ways.

Their main unique feature is the try-on option as demonstrated below:

Embedly Powered

While the try-on feature is novel, you’re limited in what you can choose from and it’s more of a fun feature than truly practical in my opinion.

Anyway, I will check back in on this probably sometime again in the near future. I’m not amazed by it but it is nice, clean and easy to use.

Odd N Ends

Neon and chevron nail polish

First attempt at chevron and neon nails.

"And go and get yourself some cheap sunglasses"

“and go and get yourself some cheap sunglasses…” I scratch my old sunglasses and needed some new. The kiosk mirrors were horrible so I was taking photos with my phone to get a better look.

Blue dress Kohl's

Yeah the dresses are not working … was trying to find a dress for a wedding. I ended up wearing a skirt instead (it was a bajillion degrees, people were in all manner of dress.) It didn’t help that when I was trying on dresses I had been bitten by something (I think spider) and had a reaction that included mild systemic inflammation. I felt a good 10lbs heavier and poofy. :/

Black dress Talbot's Outlet

If this hadn’t been black I would have bought it. Perfect for hot weather, cute (cuter than in the photo) but not a wedding guest dress. Not in KY, not in the daytime.I feel like a sausage - talbot's outlet

Talbot’s outlet. Felt like a sausage in this.

burgundy shirt talbot's

Cute but too “fall”… also not what I was shopping for.

Moved on to shoes.

Brown wedges

 Cute but not quite. (Marshall’s)

Tan wedges

Better but wanted a little darker… these are cute however and I might go back.

Nautical wedges TJ Maxx

LOVED these navy nautical wedges but they got veto’d for a wedding. A little over the top. I was already wearing neon nail polish. TJ Maxx so close.

Then JACKPOT – Payless Shoes (again somehow)

Saddle Brown Riviera Payless Shoes Saddle Brown sandals - Payless Shoes - Riveira

Payless Shoes white wedge - Twain wedge Navy Wedge Payless Shoes - Vander Band Wedge

 Top: Riveira in saddle
LOVE these sandals and the fact that they can be worn two ways.

Bottom Left: Twain wedge in white

Bottom Right: Vander Band Wedge in Navy

All three purchased, all three are Montego Bay Club brand.

And finally, what I wore to the wedding.

Revlon Nail Art Neon

Someone has finally figured out that you need a good coat of white under neon to really make it pop. Enter Revlon’s Nail Art in Neon.

I bought the “Pink Glow.”  I love this color!

However… the white sucks
AND it chips fast even when you use another white under it.

I did my toenails with my normal Sinful Colors base coat, a coat of the Revlon white (it was streaky) and then two coats of the pink. 3 days and it was already chipping.

On my hands I did the same thing but replaced the Revlon white with a Sinful colors white that was less streaky. It started chipping at day 3 as well. Usually I can get at least 5 days out of nail polish anymore before huge chunks fall off.

I also used the Sinful Colors Nail Art in white to create a chevron pattern on one thumb. The tiny brush needed a little trim because it had a stray hair hanging out but other than that, I like it.

So maybe it needed top coat or maybe it’s time for a new base coat.
It’s a fun color however and I’ll give it another try.

The applicator shape is actually kinda nice. More like holding a lipgloss tube than a nail polish bottle. Not going to stand on the table which may affect your opinion of it though.
