Purse Organizers

I initially wanted one of these:

But I saw them in a store about a year ago and although the concept is good, the material was flimsy and fragile feeling … I would probably buy this if the plastic inside were thicker and the fabric covering were a nylon or something more durable and cleanable. These might be more durable than they seem so I would love to hear from someone who has tried one of these.

This seems a little bit better …I like the idea of the zipper top because I no longer buy open top purses after an incident where my purse fell between the wall and restaurant booth seat and EVERYTHING fell out and went all over the place. The only drawback to this at the moment is that my current purse I think is smaller than the “small” version of this.

So has anyone tried any of these? Have another recommendation? I would love to hear from you! 🙂

DIY project: Lace inserts in shirts

Ok I really like this idea, to cut out a section of camisole and then add in some lace or other decorative trim (crochet might work.)

This shirt is really cute but I don’t think I could spend $70 for a wife beater when I could buy some for $5 and add to them myself (I don’t think the smushed boob look here isn’t a good one either but I think that’s the result of a bad choice in tube bra.) Otherwise I think it would be a really great, easy and cheap DIY project. I’ll let you know if I end up making some. 🙂

PS – note the new addition to the comments on the site. It’s called recaptcha and it’s really useful, really easy to install and it has basically gotten rid of spam comments for me. Oh, and I will be killing the promo section of this site in the near future … I haven’t been able to keep it up to date plus it didn’t help to get hateful comments by some people (chewing me because a code that was over a year old didn’t work … let’s see… not my fault a code over a year old doesn’t work so there was no need to take it out on me. I basically haven’t bothered TRYING to do the coupons and promos since then.)

Headband Mania

One of my new favorite things are headbands (I think I’m becoming a preppy girl….. ugh…) My head isn’t shaped right for the ones that go all the way around your head or scarfs (they slide too much) but they still look great on the people that can wear them. My favorites right now are the thick headbands and the really thin ones, very basic and classic.

Good headbands under $10 include: Xhilaration (found at Target), Conair, Goody, and Scunci (which I found at Walgreens and Rite Aide)

I also bought a very cute fabric headband on ebay (but as I mentioned before, my head is not the right shape.) There’s also someone selling cute headbands made from Vera Bradley fabric on ebay (and I checked the Vera Bradley site, they don’t seem to make headbands) which brings me to my next point.

White Skirts

So versatile and classic … I bought 2! Both I bought on ebay for a steal and I’m loving them.

One is an Ann Taylor Loft white eyelet skirt, it’s a classic a-line skirt that falls just below my knees.

The other is a brand I haven’t heard of before. It’s a tiered “peasant / boho” style skirt that falls just a little lower than the other. I made sure I picked one that didn’t look like it had too much volume to it and was more like an a-line skirt as well so it doesn’t look like a skirt that missed being part of a batch of tie dye. 🙂

I have quite a collection of polo shirts (I didn’t really mean to have so many … they’re just easy to buy and wear) – these skirts help to make them just a bit dressier than my usual of pairing them with nice jeans. And since the skirts are white and basic and go with ALMOST all tops I should be able get a few good years out of them just like my jeans.

Supa Cute … Supa Small darnit

So I’ve been bargin hunting on ebay for some shirts and such lately and came across these incredibly cute shirts. The problem… there’s no way in heck, even with extreme dieting that I would ever fit into the largest size of these shirts – they’re made for little tiny Japanese girls. So if anyone knows of anywhere that would sell these in more normal american sizes, please please let me know!

I like these but would probably make it shorter (cut off the bottom sequins and make it more of a normal length shirt):
