While visiting Rehobeth Beach DE back at the beginning of August I was able to do a little bit of shopping and picked up a couple of items I’m REALLY loving and have been wearing a lot. Particularly these Silver Chevron Earrings from South Moon Under.
They’re called the “Tribecca Round Open Chevron Earrings” in matte silver and I bought them on Rehoboth Ave. South Moon Under also has these available online in this matte silver as well as gold. The pictures on their website don’t do them justice at all.
They are a really nice size earring. Not too big and gaudy, not so small that they aren’t noticeable and they aren’t too heavy either. (I hate earrings that are cute but painful.)
These silver chevron earrings are super cute and a little preppy.
Loving them!
They’re really well made. The chevron pattern, despite being open to see through to the other side, doesn’t really catch on anything. They’re just one of those items that you don’t know you need until you see them.
Tank: Talbot’s Outlet (one of my recent gold purchases) cream with gold foil streaks.
Wrap: Tabot’s Outlet (in the fall) it’s a heathered cream linen that’s a perfect weight for spring and fall. Very versatile.
Bracelet: thrifted.
Jeans: Walmart (shhhh … why do I end up with jeans from there?)
Shoes: Lauren Conrad leopard print ballet flat from Kohl’s. Loving these, they also go with a LOT.
Then there was the yoga capris I bought that had a foil leopard print pattern. This wasn’t actually on purpose. It was more because I didn’t like the pairs that had funky color tops and they didn’t have a plain black and I had a gift card burning a hole in my pocket:
Close up of the leopard AND the Talbot’s tank’s gold stripes.
Then there are the nails.
Three coats of Essie in “A Crewed Interest” which is a Spring 2012 color.
Topped with a single stripe of Sally Hansen Crackle polish in “Antique Gold”
It’s a nice subtle effect that reminds me of gold leaf. And the peachy pink is like a less sheer version of Zoya’s Lulu. That “point shoe pink / peach” I had been looking for for years and suddenly found. Repeatedly apparently.
The gold crackle is actually a little preview of something I’m going to do a giveaway on sometime in the next month. So if you don’t normally read my blog, you might want to stay tuned by either subscribing to the rss, the emails or my twitter or youtube channels!
Are you wearing more gold lately? Is this a trend or just a weird accident that I’ve recently purchased more than one item that was gold foiled?
Next thing you know I’ll own a gold sequin mini skirt…. uhhh probably not anytime soon (though they are CUTE on other people!)
I went to Hancock fabrics this evening and came across these buttons that I thought would make perfect earrings. They’re very simple and cheap to make.
Supplies:
Earring hooks on hand or around $3 a package
Necklace Bails – used Beadalon Pinch Pendant Bails 327B-070 $3.49 (pack of 4)
Project cost should be around $12 or less unless you don’t have pliers or wire cutters.
I got both the large white buttons and a green that’s unusual.
This project is super simple.
Cut the piece from the necklace bail off that won’t work with the earring hook with the wire cutters.
Open up the bail and insert the button. Make sure you close it on the same opening in each button for both earrings so you have symmetrical earrings.
Open the earring hook to and make sure you have the button faced the correct direction when you put the loop from the bail onto the earring hook and close.
The white earrings button size is 1 1/2 inches (38mm) so they are slightly longer than that.
Made from laser cut polyester. They feel a bit like plastic but with a pearly finish and they are VERY lightweight.
Got some sterling silver and turquoise earrings from TJ Maxx for my birthday to match my granny’s ring. I think they look good together. And the price was good too. 🙂
