Some recent business outfits

I recently snagged some new Chico’s pants (3 pair) when they went on sale for a day so I’ve been dressing up a bit more than usual. I know it sounds odd but I’m a jeans fan.

Let’s start with the pink (I’m surprised pink worked on me),  khaki and gold sort of look:

Chico’s Cavalry Twill Palazzo Pant | Chico’s Silky Top
J Crew sweater (similar | similar) | Nine West shoes (similar)

A close up of the shoes:

And then last Tuesday I ended up wearing purple, black and grey. Photos aren’t as good as those above because I was taking them really quick and only snapped three:
Chico’s Sweater | top from TJMaxx | Ralph Lauren necklace from TJ Maxx | Chico’s Magique Flare Leg Trouser Pant | Cap Toe Ballet Flats are Payless Claire Scrunch Flat dexflex by Dexter
By the evening I was calling the ruffles on this shirt “tentacles.” I also didn’t realize until recently when I grouped them in the closet that I have no less than 5 shiny, silky, satiny shirts. I really don’t know how that happened.

Anyway – hopefully it will give you some ideas on pants based business attire that doesn’t involve a suit or dress. 🙂

So tell me, on the things I tried to find similar matches, did I do ok?

What I wore today – argyle in the snow

Today I’m wearing more for practicality between the freezing cold (20’s!) and a chiropractic appointment (wanted to feel the short massage without a bulky sweater.)

So I’m layered with:
– a plain black long sleeve tee (origin unknown)
– argyle sweater; Merona thifted
– jeans; walmart’s faded glory (no I don’t really like shopping there but love this pair of jeans)
– boots; leather uggs I’ve been wearing for around 4 years & purchased half price at TJ maxx (I just change the inserts for $20 each year and re-waterproof)
– car coat; Macy’s I think
– broach; grandmother’s

Gorillapod and a glif means now I can take more photos faster so I might be doing this more often.

What I wore today – Jan 11, 2012

I’ve been loving these leopard ballet flat’s I picked up on sale after Christmas at Kohl’s. I had been eyeing them for awhile but had them on my Christmas wish list so I had resisted buying them.

And the shirt, it’s not something I would normally pick up because of the bow and the waistband that makes it look tucked in. I liked wearing it though and it’s uber comfy too.

As a side note: have you ever had an article of clothing that you love and wear often and then you see a pic of yourself in it and go “eeee they do this weird thing here…. That’s not flattering.” Well I think in all the years I’ve owned them, the brown pants have never been photographed. And I took a lot of pictures today before I got one where the crotch area doesn’t look strange. They’ve gone from favorite pants to “errr maybe It’s time to go pants shopping.”

TRYING:

  • Befine Gentle Cleanser
    http://befine.com
I was expecting more a gel based on the sample bottle but gushed out a watery consistency instead.I’m on the fence because it’s somewhat awkward to use and doesn’t do amazing things to my face. But it’s a good quality and ingredients and has that fresh peppermint feel without going overboard.Really not sure about this one!

Other items from their line that I would like to try: Lip Serum, Warming Clay Mask, Exfoliating Cleanser, Eye Blossom, Rough Spot Lemon Balm,

  • Jouer Moisturizing Lip Gloss
In Birchbox Pink. Nicely Moisturizing but the color is somehow horrible on me. I also know there are healthier lip glosses out there but this was in that range I would still try and maybe wear once in awhile if it had been a good color on me.
Skin Deep Report (matches the ingredients listed for the other color) http://www.ewg.org/skindeep/product/410945/Jouer_Lip_Gloss%2C_Blush/
  • EBOOST Orange Natural Energy Booster
This looks like Emergen-C but with a couple of different ingredients. I’ll do a side by side comparison.
  • Showstoppers® Designer Fashion Tape in Nude/Black
I think the nude would be more useful than the black they sent me. However they do say they help with hems so maybe they were thinking black pants and skirts would be more common. I’ll have to give these a try on some pants that I know have started to come undone. What I can say I like about them without even using them is that they look handy to keep on hand for emergencies. Moreso than a roll of doublestick fashion tape. I may just pop the remaining one in my purse and see if I ever need to use it.

I THINK I’LL PASS:

  • Harvey Prince Yogini
achoo! Stupid allergies. And back to my prior comments about unnatural perfumes. But more the allergies than anything. Headaches, sneezing, it’s rare for me to really like a perfume. I just had to sniff the bottle without spraying it to tell this was a no go.
  • L’Oréal Professionnel Mythic Oil
Dimethiconol – another silicone derived ingredient is second on the list and I’m not going to risk a highly likely major breakout before the holidays.

WHAT I WISH THEY HAD SENT ME:

  • Olìe Biologique Huile Moderne
Seriously every month I complain about hair products with dimethicone and unnatural ingredients. Then they have one with NO dimethicone, all natural ingredients and they don’t send me a sample? Oh wait… for skin? I’d still take it though with the Argan Oil I would probably try this on my hair too. Argh! 🙂
