My mannequin came in the mail today!

It’s a plastic form on a hanger which means it won’t take up too much space and it will hang nice and neat on the door hooks I have already. This will definately make it easier to actually show everyone what these clothes could look like on (I pondered a sewing dress form with a stand but couldn’t mentally justify the cost since I don’t have a sewing machine here right now.)

In a bit of a warped way it’s like a giant plastic barbie doll (or at least a section of one) πŸ™‚

Sneak Peek – Aunt Net’s Closet

I’ve been put in charge of selling clothes for my great aunt’s estate. Although it may be a month or so before I can get it all online the plastic mannequin hanger HAS been ordered! πŸ™‚

I do still have to go through the rest of the clothes, organize, measure, write descriptions and photograph each piece but I wanted to give you all the heads up because I thought some of you would be interested.

There will be a little bit of everything: from purses to shoes, and elegant 50’s dresses to 70’s polyester shirts (she was 103 years old when she died, she really did have a bit of everything.) Also there’s a huge variety of sizes – I think she bought things on sale without trying them on sometimes – there are some items with store tags on them still.

We’ve only gone through about half of what’s at her house but I already have over 100 pieces that will be sold (there were 6 trash bags full that went to goodwill or the salvation army as well – things we didn’t think anyone would really be interested in like nightgowns, basic shirts and elastic waisted pants.)

Here’s a couple of pieces that will be included (I will let you all know when I get it online for sale.):

In the works

I know I haven’t been posting as often here but I’ve been trying to make sure there’s at least one post per week (which I know I’ve fallen a little behind on.) I wanted to let you know what’s in the works here though.

One thing is a directory of shopping and fashion related links – I’ve decided to use del.icio.us for this at this point because of it’s ease of use, tagging and ability to link to other similar sites outside of a single bookmark set.

Another section I’ve been pondering and planning out in my head is a forum which will allow more interaction from the readers. I want to have clearly organized sections for people to post their own opinions as well as deals they have found online and more. I am also open to suggestions about what people are interested in here so speak up! πŸ™‚

Easter is coming….

… and you know what that means. Easter church attire and….. PEEPS! Though I don’t think I can quite come up with something that fits for both, I did find some great wearable peeps (click on the image to go to their site):

Burt’s Bee’s Orange Essence Cleanser

Burt’s Bees has changed their formulation on their Orange Essence Facial Cleanser. Now it’s easier to wash off like a normal face soap. I liked the original formulation only because I used it in the shower and used a warm wet washcloth to remove it. I think the original version was a little bit better at cleaning but I know that many people didn’t like it because they felt like they couldn’t get it all off and felt oily after using it – I think a lot of people will be happy with the change.

Burt’s Bees has always had great products, great business and great customer service (though I think their makeup line isn’t up to par with drugstore brands … but that’s not just them, I haven’t found any brand of natural makeup to have the lasting power.)

John Frieda Beach Blonde Ocean Waves

Although I’m not a blonde, I loved Beach Blonde Ocean Waves… if I buy any product more than once I usually really love it. The bad thing is that somehow most of the products I fall in love with get quickly discontinued. Now that I’m getting towards the end of the bottle I have here I decided to write the company to see if they had plans to bring it back or for information on where to find an online retailer that still had some in stock. Below is their response:

“Thank you for your interest in Beach Blonde. All of Beach Blonde is now discontinued due to low sales. We will have a replacement product for Ocean Waves only called Brilliant Brunette Starlit Waves in Feb of 2006. Starlit Waves can be used on any hair color. You may still be able to get Beach Blonde products via medichest.com or folica.com while supplies last.

Please try our Sheer Blonde line for possible Beach Blonde substitutes as follows: Kelp Help – Blonde Hair Repair Cool Dip – Sheer Blonde Highlight Activating Shampoos Smooth Seas – Sheer Blonde Glistening Perfection Conditioners

Thank you for the opportunity to be of service.”

Yay! Just thought I would share. πŸ™‚

As for Ocean Waves, it doesn’t create curls when you have none really, it just helps to bring out what you have naturally. Be careful to not apply too much because if you do, you’ll end up feeling and looking a bit oily
